The Osage Beach Police Department joined our Paving the Way students at School of the Osage for a mock traffic stop exercise. Real pull-overs, real sobriety tests, real practice.
Not everybody has good experiences with law enforcement. Exercises like this take away the mystery of a traffic stop for teens who are just learning to drive, and remove some of the fear that comes with it. Add drunk goggles and a sobriety test to the mix, and it’s hilarious, but it’s also a sobering experience for these kids in the best way.
By the end, nobody was nervous anymore.
Thank you to the Osage Beach Police Department for showing up for these kids.
In the Ozarks, this is what community looks like.

This community is built by the people and businesses who show up, not because they have to, but because they belong to something. These are the neighbors who make everything possible.
